It depends on the gravel size. You can control the height by holding above the gravel.

I guess you could, but I&#39;d be very careful of the spray direction. When I hit some patches of grass next to my driveway, the blower sprayed out bits of gravel and grass along with the snow.

can this snow blower be used on gravel driveway ?

No, you can level it with the deck, anyway I use a plastic snow shovel.

It takes more time to get it out of the box than to assemble it. Once everything is unpacked you unfold the handle and screw the clamps down. Then you slide the chute control arm in place and put the screw in and you&#39;re done, less than 5 minutes.

Can you do wood decks with it or does it cut up the wood?

It has a scrapper on the bottom to clear packed snow, which I did the first time.

We had a 14" snowfall that i shoveled on for about three days to clear my driveway. That is when i decided to buy and Electric Snow Thrower. I purchased the Sno Joe SJ620 from WalMart.Com. This is the best deal i have made in a long time. We just had another 8" snowfall and it was supposed to rain the next day so i really did not need to clean the driveway but i wanted to give the Sno Joe a try. It was a breeze. It was so easy to push (easier than the shovel) and it threw the snow at least 12 feet. So it took no time at all to clean the driveway. I bought the additional warranty with it just in case but i really think i got my moneys worth on this one. And best of all no more hurting back. I would recommend this snow thrower and had already recommended it to friends. I think my neighbor also liked it because as he was shoveling his driveway by hand he kept watching me breeze through mine. ha. ha..

Sno Joe Snowblower 18"

1st off the shipping box ..well designed, hand holds for carrying. 2nd, the machine fit it like a glove, easy to remove. 3rd, the assembly was very easy, a pre-teen could do it without instructions. Unfold the 2 part handle, tighten the 4 large oversized attached wingnuts. Insert the discharge chute crank thru the hole on the handle, tighten the oversized, screwdriver sloted threaded screw and you are ready for business. No screwdriver needed. We had 18" of snow 2 days before the Snow-Joe arrived and it warmed up, then went to below 0* leaving the snow heavy crusted with ice. Using the machine like an old fashioned reel lawnmower it cut right thru it slowly. No stalling. Our winds here in Glacier county Montana are always with us in the winter so, no fault of the machine, I looked like Frosty the Snowman when I finished. It was fun tho, even for this 76 yr. old man. Excellent buy, Excellent machine..well thought out. Will rereview this at the end of the winter.

I've used all kings of snow removal equipment from track drive snow blowers to front end loaders and for the home owner this has to be the best value and fastest electric snow shovel there is. I have a bad back from abusive trades so I now have an allergy developed to snow shovels. The maintenance is really low on this machine being mostly the drive belt but I checked the parts availability at Snow Joe www.snowjoe.com and replacement parts are available and at a very reasonable price too. This thing is so light I shovel three steps on the front porch deck and lift it up and blow off a 6'x16' deck in less than five minutes and it doesn't scratch up the deck with a plastic scraper bar and plastic wheels. I caught mine on sale here at Wally World for 144 bux in a short time listing sale, got free shipping too of course. Anyone with age or a limited body to the use of snow shovels needs this machine. I live rural and after using my Snow Joe I can see that this little machine would work great also on city driveways and sidewalks. You won't regret buying this machine..

~~*More Bang For The Buck*~~

I first bought a Snow Joe four years ago. I live in central Maine and we get a great deal of snow. My driveway accomodates 8 cars - so you can imagine the area I snow blow. This is electric - so yes, you have the slight aggravation of an extension cord. But as someone whose back will not allow pulling on a starter cord, simply plugging in is the way to go. My neighbors all have large gas blowers, but my Snow Joe performs as well. I DO NOT force it along. When the snow is about 6" deep I head outside. Since this is not a self-propelled machine, I find it easiest to start at 6" of depth and repeat several hours later as needed. Also, when the snow plows go by and there is a large bank to move, I go out after the plow passes and do not wait for that compacted slushy mess to turn to ice. I will caution first time users - this really throws snow! The first time I used it I was concentrating on straight lines and only when I finished did I realize I had shot snow all over the length of my neighbor's house - covering windows! Oops! The swivel to adjust direction and angle of snow chute is EASY to use. I would recommend that in deeper or heavier snow, use overlapping rows to make the going easier. I loaned out my 4 year old Snow Joe to a neighbor this year and he ran through gravel - and that was too much. The gravel wedged and stripped something. I did not hesitate to go on-line and order another Snow Joe. However, I won't loan it out again! My 88 year old mother has one (she uses it to clear walkways around the yard for her dog), her 60-ish neighbor has one, and I have one (I'm 58 with a bad back). I love it. It is light weight and I simply pick it up to move it in the garage. The easy grip knobs on the handles DO REQUIRE TIGHTENING periodically. So, just give them a twist each time you head out. I recommend this to anyone who simply does not want to wrestle with a big gas blower - the weight, the noise, fumes, going to get gas, tune-ups! Enjoy winter again!

Great backsaver - gets job done!

Truthfully, this is the best snowblower I could have purchased ANYWHERE. Electric means I don't have to yank on a start cord any longer - MUCH better on my back & shoulder. I used this snowblower the second day I had it - in 4 inches of snow - our first snowfall of the season. It didn't matter if there were sticks, twigs, pine cones, leaves - whatever - under the snow. It just plowed right thru everything and never jammed or overheated. It did a fantastic job. The only drawback to some people might be the length of the power cord - luckily for me, I have an electrical outlet that can follow me down our very long driveway (motorhome). As for the snowblower itself - wow - way more than I expected for the price. Thank you.

FANTASTIC

I was kind of leery about buying this product but I'm glad I did. It is very lightweight so I have no problems putting it in my basement since I don't have a garage. So far I have only used it once during a recent snow storm we had in Michigan last weekend. I was really impressed with this snowblower. We got about 6 or 7 inches and I had not problem clearing the snow from my drive and walkways. I''m glad I purchased a 100 for cord because I was able to cover the areas I needed with that cord. I just have to be mindful about the cord because I did trip over the cord after a few minutes but I will get used to it over time. This is my first electric snowblower. I would recommend this product especially for a female since it's so lightweight.

So Far So Good

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband. We live in northwest Pa and average over 100' of snow a year. (64" so far) We enjoy grilling all winter, and using our hot tub on the deck especially this time of year. But keeping it shoveled was becoming more difficult for us. This machine worked great for that purpose. What normally was a back-breaking hour or more job was done in about 20min. Even my husband was pleasantly surprised. I only rated it a 4 because we have only used it once, and it was only 8" of light fluffy snow. Not sure it would handle our driveway, but for a small driveway, a pathway to the front door, or for a deck area (ours is approx. 16 x 20'), it is perfect. Lightweight, and easy to operate. The price is very reasonable and if it holds up we will be extremely happy.

Purchased the bundle package (Snow-Joe, Cover & Extension cord) at a good price within last 2 weeks. It snowed 7" the following day after receiving it. Didn't have it out of the box yet so had to read the manual real fast. I was skeptical when I pulled out of the box, it seemed too light to handle alot of snow. But I was amazed of the job it done, I had very little shoveling to do. It saved me alot of heavy snow lifting. I'm 67 and I handled it just fine. The cord is a little bit of a problem, but I have electric lawn mower so I use to working with an extension cord. I would recommend this snow blower for a small area. Works great.

Great product for small job

We tested this out on about 5" of snow and it worked like a champ. It was a wet, heavy snow and this chewed through it like it was nothing. Turning the machine on and off is very simple, as is switching the direction of the chute. It easily throws the snow up 15 feet or so, and it's easy to change the angle of the chute. My only complaint is that the cord comes out of the plug rather easily, so there were many times where I needed to stop and start to reattach the cord. It's still a lot easier and quicker than doing it by hand! I'm happy with the results and even happier with the price. As long as it lasts for at least the season, I would say it's a fantastic value for the price.
