The overall dimensions are 44.40 long by 27.97" tall by 10.04" deep with the stand legs attached. A Display's size is determined by the measuring from the lower left corner to the upper right corner. This TV measures 49.50" from lower left to upper right making this a 50" display.

Vizio owner&#39;s manual (https://support.vizio.com/s/article/E50x-E1-Model-Information-Ext) shows:
Dimensions With Stand:       44.40w x 27.97h x 10.04d
Dimensions Without Stand: 44.40w x 25.61h x 2.99d 

Note that this is the &quot;E1&quot; model, which seems to be sold only at WalMart

50 is the diagonal screen measurement.   If you go by the Pythagorean theorem, height^2  width ^2 = 50^2, the stated dimensions seem reasonable.  10 would be the depth, so 44^2   27 ^2
