Good question! This vacuum has a washable pre-motor filter and a pleated post motor filter.

No, I don&#39;t believe it&#39;s too loud at all. I live in an apartment so I&#39;m very conscious of not being disruptive.

Yes the filters are washable.  I wash all the filters.  Even the pleated ones. I wash/rinse with liquid soap and water and let air dry completely.    I just purchased my this vacuum for the second time.  The first one I&#39;ve had for over 6 years.     This vacuum really picks up the pet hair!   It is unbelievable how well it picks up pet hair.  The filters are not that big a deal to wash.  even the Paper pleated ones folks. I&#39;ve never had any issue.   Now after a while  if they do not feel stiff any longer yes you may want to replace those pleated ones but really I am still using the original ones that came with the first vacuum   Has served me well over the years!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned this vacuum for over 5 years and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! We have a home of 7 including 2 toddlers. We vacuum multiple times a day. It's never fails to pick something up. The kids vacuum with the tank so full I don't know how they pick anything up, but they do! It has not destroyed our carpet as in other reviews. It has a brush and if you're on low carpet or bare floor setting, it's going to get the down and dirty. Initially, the post motor filter door latch broke but we replaced it. My son ran over the power cord. We took it to a service center to have replaced. The power button has broken off but is still functional to turn on and off. At some point, we will have it fixed if we need to but we don't right now. My kids broke the end of the cord rewind button off but it still rewinds the cord. The hose is broken and we are ordering a new one. NOTHING, and I do mean NOTHING, that is wrong with this nearly 6 year old vacuum is wrong because of a factory defect, poor parts or assembly. It is all just because teenagers and toddlers are rough on things. The vacuum itself still works as it did when it came out of the box almost 6 years ago and we have put it through a lot!
