For someone who has never used a sewing machine I was intimidated at first. There are written instructions and step by step illustrations on the machine. I was able to get my first project started within 10 minutes of unboxing. I will advise to get your starter items at the time or purchase (stabalizer, different color threads, basting adhesive, etc.) These items are not included with the machine.

Great machine! Purchased it to replace another one I had had for 10 years. Bought a more updated model that only does Embroidery. Love the larger 5” x 7” frame. Great selection of embroidery patterns!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have never used as much as even a regular sewing machine before so I was a bit intimidated at first. But I went online and watched several unboxing videos and how to's on the Brother PE800. After reading the manual and carefully taking my time to set up the machine I was excited to try my first try at embroidery. I first did a short name "Papa". It was easy to follow the prompts on the screen and watching all the hard work of assembling the unit come together was both fun and exciting for me and the kids. It took less than five minutes and it was done. It was perfect! We couldn't wait to do another one. My son picked a lizard as he called it. so we quickly started on that next. Again in less than five minutes we had an adorable little lizard with cute little detailed toes. We did them in the white thread that was included on some black material we had laying around (pictures included) the detail is amazing and we can not wait to see what else we can make when we get the thread we ordering in an array of colors. If you are looking for an embroidery machine and think you don't even know how to sew ( like I thought) don't hesitate this machine is awesome and you will love it! I will be and have been recommending the Brother PE800 to all my friends and family.

I would consider myself a very crafty person. This machine has definitely enhance my creativity. Dont just jump right into using this machine if it's your first time to embroidery. Take the time to learn and educate yourself and you will not be disappointed. I had a few user errors and I'm sure I will have more because this is all so new but the troubleshooting and reading the owners manual definitely helped me. I cant wait to start making my girls custom made shirts as well as personalize gifts for family. The digital screen is easy to read and use. The USB feature works really well and I've been able to transfer several designs over. Overall it's very user friendly and I'm glad this was my first machine because I couldn't picture anything different.

The possibilities are endless with this machine. The program is very user friendly and does take some time to learn all the tips and trucks but so worth it! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first embroidery machine and the manual that Brother included has been EXTREMELY helpful for getting everything up and running. The machine itself is wonderful and relatively easy to use, once you learn how to set everything up. It comes preloaded with dozens of designs and the touch screen makes it easy to orient and size designs on your fabric. The USB feature makes it easy to transfer designs right to the machine without the hassle of first connecting it to a computer. I have used this machine for several small projects and can't wait to continue with it!

Beautiful Machine!

IT worked well in the 1st few weeks, then afterwards, the embroidery stitches are no longer tight and precise. Then the bottom bobbin kept getting stuck and the embroidery machine would stop in the middle and I couldn't recover. The embroidery looked bad so I had to return the machine.

After one week my machine broke, no matter what the tension was set at. It stayed the same.

Don't buy it

The machine looked completely brand new, but when I was going to use it for the first time, I discovered that the bobin receiver tray was full of rust. I may be the one-in-a-million case, but it happened. I returned the machine wanting a replace, but since the seller is not Walmart, the only available path is refund and repurchase. But the refund take about 3 weeks to be done...
I contacted the seller to check if I could handle the replacement directly with them, but they told me that I would have to pay for the shipping (from Miami to Oklahoma, that's not cheap).
By the way... the box in which my machine came had a partially teared shipping label to someone in Kansas City (last picture, I covered the name and address for that person's privacy). So I suppose I am not the first one returning the machine... maybe for the same reason?
