I wouldn't try to squat. You'd be starting from a very low position and you'd have to straddle the bench.

I found a relatively cheap way to make a squat rack out of the uprights. I bought three each of 16x8x8 cinder blocks and 16x8x4 cap blocks for a grand total of $8 at Home Depot, which when put on top of each other and under each leg this can be used to raise the entire bench 12 inches. This makes is just right height for staring a squat for me when you turn the weight holders backwards at the second position down from the top. I pulled the seat out of the way by using a resistance band and the leg curl weight bar. this gives me enough maneuvering room to get under the bar into the proper position to start a squat as recommended by the book Starting Strength. I am still a beginner at this and haven't started putting much weight on the bar, but I am sure I can get a much better squat out of this method, than trying to pull the weight up off the ground, and get it onto the shoulders.

I found an even better way to make a squat rack with the xr 6.1 bench as a base. The inside dimensions of the uprights is about 1 3/4" x 1 3/4". Home Depot sells square dowels of that siize with a length of 3'. I bout two of those and drilled two 1" diameter holes through them. For my height the holes needed to be 12" from one end and 6" from the other. Then I stake the top cap off and stick the end with the hole closer to the end inside the upright. I have the Gold's Gym 40" vinyl dumbbell set, and the handles are 1". S\o I used one handle each on the bottom hole to fix the wood dowels to the upright and they stick far enough out at the end to also work as safety pins. Then I turn the weight holders that came with the bench around and use the top holes for a bar holder. I then pull the seat out of the way using a resistance band and the weight bar on the curl lever. This now raises the bar up to the level of my armpits and allows me to address the bar correctly at the start of the squat. Without the seat in the way I can get right under the bar. The 12" wood upright section helps me guide the bar back to the weight holders at the end of the squat, and if I ever fail a squat, I plan to use the dumbbell handle sticking out as safety pins. I might order two extra weight holders to replace the dumbbell handles, as they would work even better for what I want. This is much more secure than trying to raise the bench up 10" with cinder blocks as I was first trying. It is also looks to be a much better rack than a homemade one with two posts stuck into 5 gallon buckets filled with concrete. The wood dowels cost me $8 each, and I had to buy a 1" hole saw, and a mandrel for it. The tools were $20, but they will be useful again on other projects where I need to use a hole saw.

The assembly manual is the best I have ever seen.  Top quality weight bench for the price.

Top Quality Weight Bench

Like many others, as soon as COVID-19 hit I went online and bought a ton of home gym equipment, including this bench. So happy! I'm 5'4”, 180lbs and this bench is perfect for me. The only thing that bothered me was that it couldn't angle enough for incline dumbbell presses but I just realized if I lean the bench on a barbell it creates the perfect angle. Zero regrets!

Didn't even know how much I needed this!

I bought this for my wife, who doesn't have a gym membership. She doesn't use heavy weight and only does the basic exercises so it fits her needs perfectly. It is a great starter bench for a 11-13 year old, but I wold not recommend it, if you use over 100 lbs of weight.

Serves its purpose

This was a good value for $59 until I saw the CAP bench with 100 Lb barbell for $10 more. I would have returned it and get the CAP version except I already installed it.

Okay for beginner

This is a very unstable model. If you have read the other posts, you will see that the way the clamps hold the bar for the bench press is  just bad in design already. With the price I went ahead and purchased this model. I just always checked the clamps before and during every workout. Well then I found this last night. The bar that supports the foot end is bending under. I am so glad I saw it before a big accident could have happened. I have only owned this for 4 months and I weigh 160 and only lift 30 pounds. So this definitely should not have happened.  Look at the photo. Towards the top of the bar is bending forcing the leg to go under the unit.  I have checked on returning, because it says not to return to the store. The actual company has a $250 shipping return fee. So after 4 months, you will just be out and nothing to do about it.

Horrible model- do not buy
