Customers like the performance of the snow blower. For example, they mention it works well, has a decent battery life, and is powerful. The good:
- It moves snow. (It really shoots it far, too!)
- Electric and cordless.
- It uses the same battery as my GreenWorks lawn mower, blower, and other tools.
- Cheaper than a full-size snow blower.
- Easy to store.
- It’s quite simple to use and saves straining my back from repetitive shoveling motions.
The bad:
- It is quite heavy to lug around. This isn’t a problem when using the shovel since it glides against the ground, but if you’re moving it around a lot, it’s a little clumsy.
- There is no way to direct the snow. While I’m sure it’s great for a lot of people that the snow is thrown REALLY far away, for me, that’s a con – I can only use this shovel on about half of my sidewalk until it’s shooting snow onto my neighbor’s sidewalk.
- Annoying to use on bumpy, uneven surfaces. The shovel relies on gliding against the ground, so when you can’t glide the shovel, you have to pick it up for bumps.
- If the snow is quite dense or icy, the shovel struggles. For instance, I had shoveled my sidewalk after a snow, but when the snow plow truck cleaned the road, it pushed more snow from the road onto my sidewalk. The shovel struggled mightily with the icy snow the plow pushed onto the sidewalk, and I ended up clearing the sidewalk with a traditional shovel.
If there were some way to direct the snow, this would be a lot more useful for me. I’ll still gladly use it because it works well and saves time and effort, but I’ve become a big fan of the GreenWorks family of products. I really can’t state enough how much I love avoiding dealing with gasoline or power cords.
We've only had a few smaller storms up to a few inches, but as mentioned this has NO trouble throwing that pretty far. When i did get to the end of the walk where a plow had pushed a huge pile, I was curious to see what would happen, and if it's overwhelmed (by an amount that it clearly should be), it will just stop temporarily. At that point I took a half step backwards, restarted it, and started pushing at smaller amounts, which it handled no problem.
It is definitely a little heavy, but given how powerful it is I think it's the right tradeoff. The heaviness only comes into play when you have to lift/turn/change paths; the design on the bottom makes it relatively easy to push it forward when throwing snow.
The other nice thing is not only does it throw the snow far, it also gets down to pavement, which has been another pleasant surprise.
Only used in a couple smaller storms, so can't comment on the full battery life, but having done most my smaller driveway (~30'x40'), per the LED indicator on my battery there was still ~75% charge left. Give it's only 12" wide, It might take some time to do a full driveway, but this would make short work of any walkway, and I'm confident it will work great for when the plow pushes big heavy piles at the end of the driveway. So far so good, extremely happy with it, and happy with the overall quality of another solid Greenworks product.

Would definitely not purchase again..
While keeping weight and cost down the necessity to push it only in the direction you want to throw the snow can make all these style throwers a bit of a hassle. Wish I could say this has been a game changer for looking after my snow removal needs but alas...
