Hi there, The recommended is to maintain a minimum depth of 9 inches of loose-fill materials such as wood mulch/chips, engineered wood fiber (EWF), or shredded/recycled rubber mulch for equipment up to 8 feet high; and 9 inches of sand or pea gravel for equipment up to 5 feet
high. NOTE: An initial fill level of 12 inches will compress to about a 9-inch depth of surfacing over time. The surfacing will also compact, displace, and settle, and should be periodically raked and refilled to maintain at least a 9-inch depth. Use a minimum of 6 inches of protective surfacing for play equipment less than 4 feet in height. If maintained properly, this
should be adequate. (At depths less than 6 inches, the protective material is too easily displaced or compacted.) We hope you find this information useful!

Love it. Took a chance and ordered it even without reviews to support the liability on it. Arrived on time. Assembly was loooong two days long for my dearest husband. But we love it the little kitchenette is super cute plus it comes with the accessories for it. I recommend.

I picked this up as a clearance item for $230 when Walmart was competing with Amazon for Prime Days.  The instructions to put it together were really poorly written, and I had to cut some of the floor planks to make them fit, but other than that this playset was a steal for that amount of money.  It's nice that it's on the smaller side as we don't have the backyard to accommodate a larger playset.  I ordered a bucket seat swing for $40 as it didn't come with one and also a couple extra things like a pirate wheel and telescope to add to his clubhouse.

Worth the $

I would recommend this play set to anyone with a small yard or space, or if you have toddlers and young kids (under 10), it's the perfect play set! We were looking for something for my 4 year old son and to fit in our small back yard, and this fit perfect! With 2 people working it took about 6 hours to put together. As you can see from the pictures, we added a pirate telescope and pirate wheel, 4 extra rock climbers, and a chair to sit inside the "bistro". These were additional purchases (sold separately) and do not come with the set. It did come with 4 stakes to anchor the play set to the ground, which I thought worked adequately well. The one thing I disliked, and why I give 4 stars instead of 5, is the chalkboard is really just a thin fabric tarp, and you will need to put your own wood board or 2x4 behind it to support the back. A kid could lose their balance or push out of it without  the extra support (I have provided pictures of the board we used for the backing). The swings and slide and rock wall are very sturdy. The set supports up to 6 children at 110 lbs each. Overall this is an excellent play set at a good price.

Excellent Play Set for Small Yard

It came in a single long, heavy box. It took the better part of two days to construct, mostly by myself. I had my 20-year old grandson help with the moving and with a few parts that required, or at least went easier with, two people. It was not difficult. There are quite a few parts, but the instructions were fairly complete and easy enough to follow. The hardest part was keeping track of the parts and trying to read the numbers stamped on the ends of the lumber.
My youngest granddaughter loves to swing and slide on it! I'm going to have to beef up the anchoring. The small stake provided is not adequate.

Great pleasure from moderate amount of work!

Perfect size for our 2 yr old. Small enough not to take up our whole backyard. She loves the bistro with the cooking accessories. She struggles a little with the rock climbing wall so we spaced the slats a little differently than the directions called for so she could climb it like a ladder safely instead. My husband tried to assemble it by himself so it took longer to assemble than expected even after I started helping. This is definitely a two person job. Overall we are pleased and seeing as how we got it on a flash sale for $229 I am very satisfied with the final product.

Great for our little one

This product looks great! I only gave it 3 stars because it was very difficult to put together because the majority of the (hundreds) of pieces were not labeled, so it took twice as long since we had to measure nearly every piece for accuracy. Additionally, one piece (that was actually labeled) had to be cut down and have holes drilled in because, for some reason, it was not a properly designed piece. Overall, its a great price, but the lack of ease of instruction to put this thing together rivals Ikea.

Cute, Functional, Difficult to Put Together

Our children like it, but one of the pieces came out of the box chipped at one, although it still had enough density to continue the building process, and also there was the fact that we could have called to have that part replaced...it was very disappointing, and the thought of halting the building process felt debilitating, so as parents it was uncomfortable.

Children like it a lot, but ...

This swing set is such a disappointment. It is very small, the description indicates it is for kids ages 3 to 10. My guess is my 2 year old will out grow it by 5. My 4 year old nephew can't swing on the highest setting without his feet hitting the ground. It is also very unstable. We had to get sand bags to hold it down while the kids are swinging. Also if you live in area where you get thunderstorms, prepare to see it topple over. Putting it together wasn't overly difficult, the hardest part was reading the part numbers on the wood.
