I had my eye on the LG 34UM95 but I am not a fan of the aesthetics of its stand. I also wanted (still want) the curved Samsung S34E790C but my wife gets nauseous every time she looks at it. I took a chance on this flat-screen monitor because of it’s great looking base even though I could not find any in-depth reviews.
Pros:
-Size. This monitor is huge. I almost have trouble fitting another monitor next to it on my desk. It happens to be the same size vertically as my 27” monitor which is nice.
-Resolution. The 3440x1440 resolution is great for a screen this size. I have another 29” 2560x1080 resolution monitor and it feels too much like a short monitor. This 34” screen definitely feels wide, not short. The monitor will push 60hz refresh rate on both HDMI and Displayport.
-Picture. The colors are fantastic out of the box. I can’t see any backlight bleed common to IPS panels.
-Stand. Great tilt and height adjustment. I can move the screen from 2.5” from the desk up to 7”.
-Comes with a DisplayPort-DisplayPort cable and an HDMI-HDMI cable.
Cons:
-Wobbly. My desk isn’t that steady, so any movement of the desk is translated into a lot of wobble in this monitor. I don’t notice this much in the smaller monitors.
Summary:
Now all I need is a couple more of these monitors!
EDIT Sept' 2016: After 5 months this monitor is still working flawlessly. Since my original purchase, however, I have acquired the LG 34UC87M-B curved 34" monitor (pictured next to my LG 34UM88C) and the Samsung S34E790C curved 34" monitor. I really appreciate the subtle curves of these new monitors and I like how they make the screen edges more usable and less "far away". If you plan on having two 34" monitors side-by-side, making at least one of them a curved monitor is a must.
I have the curved and flat LG monitors side-by-side (as pictured). I prefer to watch videos and play video games on the curved monitor, while I prefer to do photo editing on the flat panel.
Other thoughts: Getting videos to play in the 21:9 aspect ratio while utilizing the full screen is a hassle. The Windows Store video player is the only online streaming platform I could find that easily goes true full-screen on this ultrawide format. Other streaming services will play HD movies in 21:9 format(ish), but will not zoom to be full-screen. See pictures comparing streaming HD movies from Windows Store and Google Play.

First off, this review will be heavily biased by the fact I was looking for a thunderbolt monitor for my Late 2013 15" retina Macbook Pro (mine had the dedicated GPU but don't think that matters). I like Macs but they have their issues certainly and sometimes driving external monitors can be...uhm....troublesome. So wanted to stop messing with adapters, odd programs to assist, etc. Just wanted it to be plug and play.
Aesthetically I think this is a step in the wrong direction from its predecessor, I actually liked the look of the old central "floating fold" stand better. The new stand is like a very open horseshoe with the central pillar in the middle. The bezel and screen are great however.
Speaking of the stand though, functionality wise it would appear better since it has quite a range of height/tilt adjustment. So if that matters to you this monitor has a very good range. This has the standard VESA mounting points pre-drilled on the back (it's what the included stand attach to), so should be easy to mount.
Backlight bleeding, so far none noticed. I was extremely careful to follow the instructions LG laid out when handling the display.
The display is bright, crisp, and sharp. Best of all it was plug and play with thunderbolt to drive it at full resolution (3440x1440 @ 60Hz). I have an anker USB 3.0 hub connected and it allows me to switch between inputs and keep the same keyboard and mouse.
One huge upgrade/update over the old model is that you can split screen now with thunderbolt being one of the inputs. So I can have my mac up on one side and a PC (via HDMI or mini display port)
I don't mind the small central joystick for navigating items, it would have been nice to have a quick button for split screen or PIP but whatever, those are just nice to haves (for me at least) anyways.
If you are a PC user and/or don't care about Thunderbolt usage, there are probably better deals on the market for you. I won't lie, the dell 34" curved, if you like curved monitors, looks great.
My only gripe with this, is it appears that there two very minor dings on two corners of the display from the factory. It's not enough for me to return it just a minor annoyance.
Obviously this is a 21:9 aspect ration monitor which isn't for everyone and has some limitations and irritations. There are a few chrome browser extensions that help with that if you are watching movies/videos/youtube etc to fill the screen.
Overall I think this is by far and away the best 34" monitor for mac users, as my personal taste doesn't favor curved monitors.
