The new LG Ultrawide was an unplanned purchase. I got a deal notification from Amazon and when I looked at the $300 price tag and great specs, I couldn't pass it up:
QHD 3440 x 1440
IPS
HDR 10
AMD FreeSync Premium
Dynamic Action Sync
3-Side Borderless Design
OnScreen Control
Setup was quick and straight forward. The stem for the base snaps into place on the back of the monitor with a spring loaded catch. The aluminum pedestal for the base then attached to the s stem with a single thumb screw. It makes for a solid but light unit. The monitor tilts and stays out at the angle you desire. The onscreen menu makes it easy to adjust settings.
My only complaint, if you can call it one, is that I can't seem to get the embedded speakers to work. I'm opening a support ticket with LG for that

Before getting to what makes this monitor exceptional for work from home, I’ll mention a potential issue with it (and all ultrawide/higher resolution monitors in general). Not all computers can handle them. There are different standards of HDMI, different levels of graphic card ability, etc. If your computer has DisplayPort, chances are you’ll be fine. My computer didn’t change the recommended resolution on its own, but I right clicked the desktop, selected display properties, and it showed the recommended resolution as an option. After switching to the correct resolution, the monitor’s clarity and color reproduction looks very good. You can also adjust the scale for things like font and icon size. Just having an HDMI port, however, doesn’t guarantee compatibility. Older HDMI standards can’t handle the higher resolution of this monitor. I’ve also tested this monitor over my laptop’s Thunderbolt 3 connection. That also worked perfectly. On a laptop, this port looks just like a USB-C port; but there is often a lightning bolt near it that shows that the port has additional functionality. All future versions of Thunderbolt will also work, and the new version of USB-C (USB4) will work as well. While prior versions of USB-C might work, this isn’t a guarantee. Next to your USB-C port, if you see a lightning bolt (Flash icon) or a DP icon, you will be fine. If you only see SS, this port won’t work to carry a video signal.
Anyway, moving on to what makes this monitor exceptional for work from home is actually the screen type, the width, and the resolution.
1. The screen type is IPS (In-Plane Switching), and this provides consistent image quality even when viewing the monitor from different angles.
2. The width of the monitor is definitely intended to be the star feature of an ultrawide monitor. What it amounts to, though, is about 3 vertical sheets of paper side by side of screen space (hopefully this makes sense). For productivity, this will allow an open browser page, an Excel or Word doc, and an email client to all be open on the screen at the same time. With Windows 11’s ability to add new desktops as well, you could configure multiple different screen layouts for different task loads.
3. The resolution is also a big benefit of this screen. This is a 1440P screen. It’s not a 4K screen, which could possibly be even better - but this would only be better if your computer can support it. Especially with ultrawide monitors, there are a lot of pixels that have to be processed by your computer’s graphics. If you have a computer with a powerful graphics card, a 4K monitor will give you even sharper details. Without a powerful graphics card, the benefits of a 1440P monitor (like this LG) are that less powerful computers can still benefit from the noticeably sharper images and text than a 1080P monitor could provide. If you haven’t used a higher resolution monitor before, you’ll immediately notice how much crisper and smoother text becomes. If your experience is similar to my own, you’ll likely notice less eye fatigue because the text is so much easier to read as well. When you spend many hours in front of a monitor, anything that helps with eye fatigue is welcome!
Overall, this monitor is very good. It’s not perfect though. I would have preferred that the monitor stand had vertical adjustability and cable management. I would also have preferred that the monitor had a wider color gamut. DCI-P3 of 95% or higher would make this more accurate for any work needing accurate color reproduction – such as web, photo, and video work. Even so, 99% sRGB is considered the minimum required for visual editing. It won’t satisfy a professional, but almost everyone else will be satisfied with it.
I would have to point out something that you will need to reconsider if you care about it.
1, it doesn't have powered USBC/TB. Nowadays we are getting used to a single cable charging and transferring the image at the same time, once getting connect to the laptop, this one doesn't have the function. Take a look into the ports, it only equiped with 2 hdmi and one dp. One big thing to consider.
2, it doesn't have speaker
Sometime even the monitor has speakers, they are weak, and we just don't use them, so this one removed speakers, and leave you with a 3.5mm port for headphones if you would like to use it.
Yes, it is a reasonable price curved 34 inch monitor, not 1080P but 1440P, however the pixels and colors still stands out that it is not a good quality monitor. For everyday gaming and working, it would be good enough, but if you would like to have some image quality I would not recommand this one. Dell can make 1080P looks no different with a 4K monitor in same size, but this one is more like a Dell 1080P quality.
Again, for the price, you got what you paid for. If you just care about size and curved, it is a good choice for you, but if you would like more feature, especially USBC charging, then unfortunately, this is not something that on your list.
