Speaker is compact (compared to a sound bar) and doesn't take up too much room. The sound quality is amazing! The base is really good and it simulates a really good surround sound effect.  Whether you're watching TV or a Blu-Ray, or if you have it hooked up to a computer, the sound quality won't disappoint you. If you're playing a video game though, this is where the speaker truly does it's best: you have 3 different audio settings depending on what kind of game you're playing and the audio effect(s) you want in-game. You will notice significant audio differences depending on the type of game you're playing and the audio setting you choose. Experiment with each audio setting for each video game you play. You will notice all the little audio nuances each setting creates in-game. As a bonus, if you have 2 of the same model (GP9) which I do, you can link them together for double the sound.

Great portable speaker

I didn't expect much but another small and under powered portable Bluetooth speaker at this size. Gosh I was wrong. This performs better than my 3” speakers with a subwoofer! If you are looking for some portable speakers with good enough sound quality, at this price you will be happy to listen to music from it! PS I listen mainly classical music and sports events. 
PS the light effect is a another surprisingly fun feature!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Initially, I bought this speaker because I thought it would look good in my son's gaming setup. And because the LG brand is one that we like and trust.

Once we received the speaker we were pleasantly surprised. It was much bigger and heavier than we expected which is really nice. The lights it has when it's on definitely give his setup an extra wow factor. The speaker is marketed as a gaming speaker and it truly delivers! It has amazing sound and the games sound spectacular. My son also really likes that his friends can hear him clearly without having to use his headset. Plus switching over to his headset is quick and smooth. 

The only thing we would change is that the battery drains really fast. It's not really an issue for us though since he just leaves the speaker plugged in. Other than that it's perfect and we wouldn't change anything.

Wonderful Gaming Speaker

It has multiple connections ( USB, Optical and Bluetooth) you have the ability to connect a headset to it and there is a button it toggle it on and off. It also has a microphone which actually works well with conference calls. It has to preset equalizer modes and a third one which lets you customize it via the LG BOOM app. Those are the features

In terms of functionality, this pairs perfectly with a laptop. you get great sound from a portable device. I wouldn't use to to replace my regular desktop speakers but this is a stable to my laptop where i can get portability and great sound

I like that it's versatile and compatible to be used with a PC, gaming console and your mobile phone because it has a USB-C port, optical port and has bluetooth. All the ports are in the back and are covered so no dust or dirt can get in them. It has a built-in microphone with echo-cancelling as well so you don't need gaming headphones as well as the speaker. It has a long battery life of 5 hours so you can play longer and can be charged with the power adapter that's included. It has great sound that fills the room for such a small speaker. All of the buttons are on the top and are easy to use. I love that it's portable because you can use it in any room or even take it with you on the go. It's lightweight and compact which makes it easy to take from place to place or room to room. Ours has been used in the living room and bedrooms for gaming and music and my son even took it in the bathroom while he was showering and getting ready for work. It also has customizable RGB lighting so you can make it your own. I think it's a little expensive for what it is. With it being portable, a carrying case would've been nice to have been included.
