The stools fit quite nicely and are out of the way. Simply use them as needed and then tuck away.

This unit is not meant to accommodate a microwave.

I measured the shelving area top to bottom. Each shelf area is 11 and 1/2 inches tall by 1 foot 8 and 1/2 inches long. I can store a toaster, can opener and other small kitchen items. I have a turkey roaster; however, it can't fit. It would have to be an extremely small microwave.

I still have the instruction booklet and the weight limit is not stated on any of the pages. I don't have the box that the pub set came in. It was thrown in the trash. However, the instructions states the "product maximum weight is 50 pounds." Maybe the website would state how much weight can be on the stools.
