I kept looking at different generator sets and finally decided on getting an inverter generator for my camping and home needs. I have an old 3500 standard unit that is giving me problems and was just to heavy to haul around and lift and it used a lot of fuel to boot if you had to run it for any length of time. This unit came fast. I added the oil and it started on the second pull. It seem to run well and I tested the unit out running it thru its paces lightly. The idle down feature worked well I really liked it and the unit was very quiet compared to my old standard unit. For my micro camper I think this will be the perfect fit and a great fit for home emergency use as well not to big and yet big enough to keep the fridge or sump pump going when the power goes out. I don't have any real hours on it yet so will have to see how it runs over the long run. So far tho 2 thumbs up.Read full review

This unit is manufactured in China and it shows. I had to send it in for service the first week I received it because the STOP|RUN|CHOKE knob is actually a fuel valve and it was all bound up and you couldnt turn it. When I got it back from the service center it started right up and ran smooth. It has a nice feature called "Economy" mode which idles the engine down when you are using low power items or when the item cycles off like a refridgerator. However for larger inductive load items you have to turn this feature off or it will not be able to supply the requred surge wattage to get motors started quick enough because it has to throttle the engine back up and its not fast enough to do it. With economy mode off I can run my 10,000 BTU window AC which is what I needed to survive a power outage in Florida :-) Running vacuum cleaners, leaf blowers and battery chargers is no problem with this unit. You can NOT start and run a 13,500 Coleman Mach RV rooftop AC with this. It will not start it, not even with a 10 gauge power cord. Just doesnt have the surge capability. Its also not quite as quiet as a Honda but the price difference more than compensates for the increased noise. FInally, like so many other small engine tools your service intervals are based on hours and this unit has no hours meter!! So Amazon sells the small battery powered inductive units that wrap around the spark plug wire and you can screw it right to the nylon chassis. Works perfect and gives you a much needed missing feature for your maintenance.Read full review

Bought this a few months ago. Initially it seemed good, starting with one pull, running smoothly, and fairly quiet. It powered basic stuff easily and ran a 5,000btu ac all night once. It has not and will not start a 1 horsepower motor. It has since become increasingly difficult to start, now requiring 6 to 12 pulls to start. Once running it is still smooth and quiet. Variable loads will cause it to randomly shut down, such as when used to run a small capacity washing machine, which should not strain the power output of this unit. When used to charge storage batteries it will deliver about 1400 watts, and will shut down if more is drawn. It doesn't come close to delivering 1700 watts steady state. I'm going to pursue some warranty work to see if it can be corrected.

I was skeptical about buying this brand since I have a Honda 2200 inverter that I really like, but I needed a 2nd one and Honda is 4X the price as this one. I have to say, I never right reviews, however with this purchase I found it a must. Like most of us, when I decided to purchase a generator, I started my online research. Everything about this one looked perfect, with the exception of the low volume of reviews. Let me tell you I really love this inverter generator. It was easy to fuel up and start with 1 pull. During my test run I was able to plug in 1 running shop vac, 1 running standard refrigerator, 1 toaster oven, 1 fan, 1 lamp, & 1 laptop. This generator was able to run all items at once, but could hear it get a bit louder when I turned on the shop vac with all other items plugged in. The light indicating a heavier load came on at this time as well to indicate nearing maximum load. Even so, the noise level was extremely quiet. I like the switch which gives an option idle the unit down even further than normal when the load requirement is low. Read full review

I only have a few hours on the Powermate PM2200i but it seems to be a high quality product at a very reasonable price. It will handle its full rated load, is easy to start and is relatively quite. The unit, except the case color, is identical to the Generac GP2200i (at a much better price) - before purchasing I downloaded the parts list of each from their respective websites for compared. I believe the engine, which looks like a copy of an 80cc Yamaha engine, came from Ducar in Bishan, Chongqing China. It appears to be high quality. Not having had the unit very long, I can not attest to its long-term durability, but other reviews have been favorable. I would recommend this product.
