No, a DVD player can be connected to this system, but it does not come with one.

Its a Receiver that you could connect a DVD player to it.

Unplug that speaker, then connect it to a different speaker port, just to test the speaker itself. If that pop continues on the speaker, then there is a problem with the speaker. Please email us directly to support@1800customersupport.com.

If you are using an Optical Audio connection (TOSLINK) then you most likely just need to clean that cable and it&#39;s connection points. Take a cotton swab and wet it with Isopropyl alcohol, then gently swab the tips of the TOSLINK cable&#39;s connectors with the cotton swab. Then spray the connectors with canned air to dry them quickly. It&#39;s possible for dust to get into the connection points even with the little dust shields, a tiny burst of canned air just inside will clear them out. Then reconnect the cable and most likely that annoying pop will be gone.

I read the reviews and was skeptical about purchasing this sound system. It was the best value for me that I could find with all the features I wanted. So I decided to just buy it. I am so glad that I did. This little sound system works so well in my 12x14ft. living room. The only thing I would need different is the length of the speaker wires. But that's very easily fixed by just purchasing more wire. This unit does so much. I hooked it into my rca 60in. Tv and my ps3 it has a built in AM/FM stereo receiver. I can also play music from my galaxy S3 via blue tooth. I was also able to program my dirct tv remote to control the volume so that keeps the number of the remotes needed to amminimum. So to sum it up for my needs and limited budget. This RCA surround sound home theater is a smart and enjoyable purchase. Thank you RCA and Wal-Mart for offering such and nice product at a great value.

It's perfect for my needs

I did a quite a bit of search on the home theater systems and finally found RCA RT2781BE 1000W Theater System. This product is really amazing with excellent sound quality for the price quoted. Small first day experience, which I would want to share with you all... while I was checking the sound output via blue tooth connection through my mobile phone; I got a complaint from the neighborhood person (Apartment on top of us) to reduce the volume. That was the only time I played it with full sound output @50. After that occurrence I never increased the volume beyond 25 on the receiver. Truly, this product is incredible and worth buying.
Would be to much to demand... just a wish... request the manufacturer to have at least one HDMI and USB ports :)

RCA Home Theater - Worth Buying

Simply stated, I read the reviews at the order site before I bought the item. I was encouraged to buy from what I read, so I bought one.

I am writing to say that I am pleased with my unit. In all fairness I must report that the instruction manual was somewhat confusing and not accurate. The problem I had was the same as others had reported on other sites... the surround speakers did not play when the devices were in use. I noticed that they did "report" when I did the recommended speaker test, so I felt I must have simply missed something in the instructions.

Sure enough, when I read far enough into the booklet, I came across a paragraph on page 9 : "Center/Surround Speaker Setup" that read under "Notes" that the default setting was the "yes" position but this was not the case for mine. So I promptly set both options to the "yes" position and the speakers came to life !

Hope this will be helpful information for others who buy this unit and find the rear speakers are not working.

I am very impressed with the sound and volume of this relatively inexpensive system.

RCA HOME THEATER EXPECTATIONS MET

I was looking for loud speaker volume and a strong sub-woofer. This theater system really does the trick. It makes the walls and my windows tremble slightly in my room. I really like the Bluetooth feature because I can play songs directly from my iphone to the theater system with no wire connections. The surround sound is awesome when watching movies. I can't think of anything negative to say about this theater system. I haven't had any problems with it at all.

I'm satisfied with this item.

I agree with the positive reviews on this as a budget surround sound system. I think it has more than adequate power and sound quality for its price, and will exceed the needs of the average user.

There are 2 major shortcomings with the system in my view, and they are both easily addressed. First, there is no HDMI, so if you want actual surround sound you'll need to use the optical connection. Of course, all your gear has HDMI and may or may not have the optical connection you need. To work around that, I got a $29 audio extractor (ViewHD VHD-H2HSAs) that splits digital audio out of an hdmi cable and offers an optical connection. So far this has been working perfectly to get surround sound out of my HDMI equipment.

The second and larger issue is the fan. The fan that comes on this system's heat sink (YS Tech model FD124010HS) is a 12v .10A 40x40x10 mm 2-pin unit that runs at 6300 rpm to push a max CFM of 6.4, has sleeve bearings, and (according to the manufacturer) a 28db noise level. You're running a pretty thin/small fan at a high rpm to do the job there. It's going to be loud. On top of that, the fan in my receiver made groaning noises and slight rises and drops in rpm that foreshadow an early death. Of course if you lose your fan, the system itself is not long for this world. Given that, once your warranty is up, I'd recommend looking for a replacement fan. I found that there is more than enough room to swap in a 20mm fan instead of the 10mm fan it comes with, but there are many options out there in both sizes. I was easily able to find one that has ball bearings, compatible power specs, runs only slightly less CFM, and is silent by comparison for $7. There are only 6 screws that need to be removed to get the case off, and the fan has two screws that connect it to the heat sink. Very simple. Since I went with a thicker 20mm fan, I had to find new screws. I couldn't find anything in local big box shops with the exact same TPI, but I did have success with a standard #4 1 inch that I ran across at hardware store. It was a VERY simple swap out that only required a screwdriver. Obviously this would void your warranty, so I'd recommend waiting until that is expired to start swapping out parts. If you find a 10mm fan that suits you then of course the existing screws will work fine. Drastic improvement in noise level (and hopefully longevity) with the new fan and great sound with the optical cable. Hope this info is helpful for someone!

Some tips to make this work for you

This was a steal at only $40!! But I would have never played full price. The settings can't be saved. You have to set everything back up to your preferred settings everytime you turn it on. Other than that it sounds great!!

Good theater for the price

Don't get me wrong, I love the receiver. It's got a lot of power, and sounds really good. My biggest issue with this is that I didn't even have it for a month, and the fan started acting up. The bearings had failed, and now all I hear is a grinding sound. Once the fan failed, I kept having to turn the receiver back on whenever I wanted to use it, which got really frustrating, as I like to keeps these things left on, which is how they should be. Wouldn't buy again.

Works... For a bit

Very disappointed. The cooling fan is so loud and annoying, that it's a relief to the ears when shutting the unit down.

The inputs on the rear are a bit lacking - for starters there's no HDMI port. Also, the FM radio antenna port fell into the back of the unit when I tried plugging in the cable. And, yes, I had the correct adapter.

RCA customer support was as disappointing as the RT2781BE. They were sorry I was having these "isolated" issues but refused to take the unit back and suggested I purchase the two year warrantee nest time.

I've owned many RCA products over the years that have been very reliable, this just wasn't one of them.
