No, you cannot enter the safe with a dead battery. The battery compartment on this safe is on the outside lock area. You would take the batteries out, insert new ones and then open the safe.

I bought this safe to hold important papers, 2 handguns and some ammo.  Then I read about it retaining high humidity so I added a Compact Rechargeable 40 Gram Desiccant Dehumidifier which easily keeps the humidity at 30%. Bolting it to my cement slab proved to be a challenge finding the correct size of anchors. I ended up with a couple of 3/8" x 5" wedge bolts along with 1-1/2" fender washers.  (Probably overkill but that thing ain't going nowhere!) Great first safe!

Well Made, Quality Safe!

The video shows the drilling in the exact middle , symmetrical which is off to the side of one of the indents which seems logical. This needs clarifying.  No answer on my inquiry of a couple of days ago. The text just says there is an indent where the hole goes.

To Center or Not To Center

I really like this safe, but I really wanted to love it. My fault because I didn't notice that it does not come with a key. I know you can remove the batteries from the outside, but if for some reason you forget your code you don't have a key to get in. Also, a light would have been nice

Good size

I liked the fact that it was fast and easy to open the safe, however, that's only when it worked. Sometimes I would enter the code and the lever wouldn't go down to open the safe. It would take 6-7 tries before it would finally open. Unfortunately I had no choice but to return it and exchange it for a combination safe instead which opened every time even thought it took longer to enter the combination. Also, the combination safe numbers cannot be changed which is a bummer.
