Let me start by saying that I love this bag, and if thats all you read of this review, you will not be disappointed by the bag. For those of you with concerns, I will try to adress them now. This bag is organized VERY well. The center pocket is EXTREMELY spacious, and can hold 6 textbooks all about 1.75in in thickness. If you carry more than that many books, just go buy a luggage cart. The laptop pocket holds any size laptop up to a 17in. But that dosent mean it wont cary a 13 or 11 in securely and safely. The tablet pocket will accomodate just about any 10 tablet including my galaxy tab 10.1. The added pockets at the top are great for carrying a mouse, cellphone charger or just cables. Dont expect to fit anything more than a magazine into this pocket though, as its very slim. the front pockets are great. Inside the front attached pocket thing there are three pockets, one zipper pocket, and two normal pockets of different sizes. The two pockets are perfectly sized for a scientific calculator (ti84 plus) and a sizable stack of notecards. The zipper pocket is well made and I use it for holding pens becuase i can trust the material they use. this pocket can also accomodate another larger item; like a pair of headphones or a kindle or a book.
Moving to the main pocket there is ample room inside as mentioned above and some pockets above that are very handy because they are so high up they dont interfere with the books.
The crushproof pocket has a feature that i dont think anyone else mentioned, it has the ability to be locked. The zipper will accomodate a standard travel lock. It is the only locking pocket on the bag as far as i know. That said, the zippers have holes in them big enough to possibly accomodate a standard padlock.
The bottom pocket is very flat, as you would expect. One reviewer wrote about uneven wear because the charger would cause a bump in the pocket. I dont have this fear because i have the extension on my mac charger, (it comes with one people, its in the box) so the pocket just sits flat.
The water bottle compartments are made of quite heavy material, unlike most other brands (come on northface). and they are easily large enough to accomodate a thermos.
The straps and back padding are very comfortable as i assume they are made from some high density foam or gell. Some reviews complained about the straps pinching their necks. I have not had this problem. Though you should really think about this bag if you have a small frame. IT is VERY large and may be too large for anyone under about 5' 6".
Another bonus about this bag is it excellent build quality. The strap adjustment loop things are made from solid aluminum and have a nice brushed finish. I dont expect them to scratch or break. The whole backpack is made with care and the zippers and straps, stitches and design show it. And Thule backs up their workmanship with a 25 year warranty.
You made it, or you just cheated, whatever, in summary:
If your a student and considering this bag I would say go get one, as long as you are big enough to carry it. It feels big, and rightfully so, at 32L its right at the top of the backpack range. Its excellent build quality and though in the designing process make this bag worth every penny of its pricey $129.99 price tag.
Fast forward, this monster can fit a WHOLE LOT of stuff.
1) Right at the back is the laptop compartment. In this compartment there a sleeve/section specifically for a laptop. I have a 15.4" MBP, and that thing fits in absolutely perfectly and snugly. It's briliiant. There's also some padding at the bottom where the laptop would otherwise meet the ground. I like that. apart from there, theres also a small sleeve area that fits a iPad perfectly and snugly. so if you're one of those who lug around a laptop and an ipad, this is just perfect. apart from that, this compartment would probably fit 1 other textbook or thin folder. There are also these 2 pockets near the top of this compartment. Incredibly handy for keeping small stuff. I use it to keep my earphone case, some pens, and my credit card holder.
2) The main compartment: This is the monster. I generally keep 1 hugeass binder, 1 folder, 1 lab book and 1 textbook and 1 fat nalgene bottle (laid horizontally on top). I love how spacious this monster is. There are also 2 mesh pockets near the top, which I use to keep my magic mouse, a mini-display adaptor, a portable iphone charger and some cables.
3) The safezone: i just bloody love this thing. I use it to keep all my non-so-tough electronics. I am usually able to put in my Canon S100 (which is inside a caselogic camera case so it's quite bulky), and sometimes a earphone. Don't expect it to be SPACIOUS enough to stuff tonnes of things. It's really meant for those couple of small stuff that are just fragile. Sunglasses, watches, camera, earphones etc.
4) There's this shove-it compartment below the safezone. I love that spot. It's great for you to, well, shove any random things into it, esp if you need very ready access to them. The space can also be expanded by loosening the 2 buckles at the sides. for day-to-day I just shove my umbrella and lunch box there although if you want, you can loosen the buckles fully, and you can easily shove a pair of running shoes in there. The ONLY problem is, anything put there is vulnerable to the rain cos well, its not covered. Additionally, if you carry this bag out in the rain, water is gonna collect inside this compartment. It baffles me how they did not put like some kinda drainage holes at the bottom. Oh well.
5) The front compartment: This is a nice roomy compartment good for shoving anything small and needs ready access. I usually put my mac charger, my graphics calculator, my pencil case and my spare sunglasses (in a case) in this compartment.
6) There are 2 side pockets for you to put your water bottles and what not. One thing that might be a little annoying is that if you stuff the main compartment to the brim, it kinda obstructs any attempts to shove a bottle or stuff like that into the side compartment.
7) The bottom compartment: so below the front compartment is this other compartment that literally lines the bottom of your bag. It's supposed to be for the MBP charger. I personally find it an awkward place (it's kinda tight and it's hard to push the charger in sometimes) and It makes your bag sit weirdly on the ground unless you managed to get it perfectly fitted in.
Overall, this bag is preeeeetty much close to perfect. It's got MONSTER volume for keeping just about everything. The construction is BLOODY solid - the buckles and zippers are some kinda metal (i think its aluminum), the fabric is solid and durable and there's double stitching at most places. I also think the designers at Thule are absolutely brilliant. The compartments are actually incredibly practical and useful. Plus I think it looks pretty damn good. I'm NOT sure if it's suitable for people who are slightly smaller in build though. It could be a little too big for their frames.

El tamaño ideal .
Luce muy bien
Y el precio esta bien .
So I decided to order another Thule knapsack, the one for the 17-inch MacBook Pro this time, and it's even better than the one I had before (for 15-inch MBP). It's a little larger than the one I had before, almost too large for public transportation, although it still works when I'm seated and I turn it sideways and put it on my lap. I actually like that it is a little larger than the 15-inch model, since I sometimes ran out of room with the 15-inch one after buying too many groceries.
The "Safe Zone" compartment in the 17-inch model is significantly bigger than in the 15-inch model, so even a large smartphone or large case for glasses can go in there. Thus far, the Safe Zone appears to be water proof. The thick, heavy-duty straps can make you a bit sweaty around the shoulders on a hot day and sometime seem a bit awkward, but are so much better overall than the thins straps you see on most knapsacks. Incredibly, you can actually run with this knapsack on without holding on to the straps (which I can't say for any non-Thule knapsack I've ever had), although I usually do end up holding on to the straps. My point is that it doesn't bounce around like other knapsacks do when you're running.
It's also much easier on my back than cheap knapsacks are. It stays up relatively high on your back and doesn't slide way out and down and strain your lower back as takes place when you have a load of groceries in a cheap knapsack. This is really something to consider if you are at all concerned about back issues. If you're loading yourself down with books all the time, are you doing yourself a favor by buying a cheap knapsack that is hard on your back?
The Thule compartments are very well padded for your electronic devices. All the little zippers and compartments really help me stay organized, giving me a place for batteries, pens, keys, and so on. Since my knapsack is like my command center, this is important to me and it's especially important when I'm traveling by air.
Yes, it's about twice as expensive as your typical knapsack from a university bookstore and so you need to be careful with it to make sure it lasts. But, all things considered, this is the best knapsack I've ever had. I still hope to get the zipper fixed on my old one, but all I can say is, Thule is the Volvo of knapsacks, expensive yes but durable and well engineered.
